Animals in Italy
While Italy is well known as a great touring destination for a variety of different reasons, few people realize that Italy also features an amazing array of animals, some of which you cannot find anywhere else in the world.

Italy features a variety of different environments, which serve to provide diverse types of animals with the habitats they need in order to survive. From the rocky and arid regions of the south, to the fertile plains that surround the River Po, Italy is the perfect place to find some of the world's most amazing creatures.

Some of the animals that you can find in Italy can be found in other areas. For instance, there are many deer that can be found in the wilds of Italy. The great

brown bear, famous for its enormous size and strength, can also be found in this beautiful country. Luckily for inhabitants and tourists alike, brown bears are almost never going to be found near urban environments.

Wolves are also a part of Italy's natural ecosystem. Wandering the countryside, often hunting deer or smaller animals, wolves are a beautiful reminder of how nature finds a way of balancing itself out.

But there are other animals that you will not find anywhere else in the world. Unfortunately, many of these animals are listed as endangered or very endangered. It is sad to think that some of these animals could die out within our own lifetime. An example of one of these very endangered animals are the wild goats known as the mufloni. With their large, curved horns, these goats are truly a magnificent example of the wonders that nature can produce. These goats are found on the island of Gigli, located near the central region of Italy.

These marvelous goats are not the only unique species that can be found on this island. The "Discoglossus Sardo" frogs are another example of a species that you can only find on this wondrous Italian island.

But if wondrous frogs and goats don't spark your interest, then perhaps the rare butterfly called the Parnassus Apollo will. These large, beautiful butterflies are yet another example of an endangered species which can be found only in Italy.

From small to large and everything in between, Italy is home to a fantastic array of marvelous animals. For anyone visiting the country, taking the time out to see some of the extraordinary animals native to Italy is definitely recommended!
